It's Your Life Party

Congratulations! You’ve taken the first step to make someone you know and love a star for an evening and give them a book of the story of their life to treasure.

I don’t know how many of you remember a TV programme called “This is Your Life ” but I do and it occurred to me that when you buy a gift of a “Your Story Biography” you might want to celebrate it in style. With the help of events organiser, Alison Henderson of “My Pinkie Promise”, alison@mypinkiepromise.co.uk , we can recreate this once popular programme, complete with mystery guests to delight your special person.

I’ll write the life story, all in the words of friends and family, include photographs and have it beautifully bound.

The presentation will take place in front of an audience of friends with others appearing as surprise guests: just like “This Is Your Life”.

You decide which of the love, laughter and memories evenings you prefer and we do the rest.

The presentation options

• Mini – A glass of wine/soft drink for everyone as they arrive.
  The presentation followed by canapés, cutting a celebration cake and a second drink.
  A bar so that guests can buy drinks.

• Regular – A glass of wine/soft drink and nibbles for everyone as they arrive.
  The presentation followed by a finger buffet, cutting a celebration cake and second drink.
  Music to introduce the “surprise” guests and once the presentation is over to provide, either subtle background music, light classical/pop or livelier disco for dancing.
  A bar so that guests can buy drinks.

• De-luxe – A glass of wine/soft drink and canapés for everyone as they arrive.
  The presentation followed by a meal, cutting a celebration cake and second drink.
  Music to introduce guests and once the meal and presentation are over, to provide either subtle background music, light classical/pop or livelier disco dancing.
  A bar so that guests can buy drinks.

• Extras – we will work with you to provide any additional elements that you might require.
  Invitation cards.
  Flowers to decorate the room and to present to the “celebrity”.
  Flowers and other table decorations, e.g. lights which can be taken home as souvenirs.
  Napkins with the name of the “celebrity” printed on them.
  Table mats printed with photographs of the “celebrity”.
  Posters of the “celebrity” to decorate the walls of the room and to take home.
  Party poppers, streamers, goodie bags, cake bags/boxes
  Professional photographer.

This is a once in a lifetime celebration of a very special person so you and I want it to be perfect.

Swear your friends and family to secrecy, make sure the star is dressed for the occasion, then get ready to party!

Surprise guests

The next step, will be to select approximately 6 people who would be prepared to wait in another room, be introduced and appear in person to tell their stories. They’d rehearse the little introduction to the story they’d already told me and which would have appeared in the book.

On the night….

The family and friends will be waiting in the room. You will bring “the star” to venue. When “the star” enters the room we will be there, with the book to tell them that they’ve been selected for an “It’s Your Life” celebration. Once seated, their story will unfold with the help of the guests who’ve been waiting their turn to “perform”.

We will arrange for a microphone to be placed outside the main room so that the guests’ entrance can be suitably dramatic. They’ll enter, greet “the star” tell their story, then sit down to enjoy the rest of the evening.

Once the story has been told, “the star” will receive the book and the party can begin.
