In Memoriam
Sadly, people we love die and usually before we get the chance to tell them how much we love them, how much our lives have been enriched by knowing them.
When the person is elderly – your mum, dad or grandparents, you feel the loss keenly but can console yourself that he or she had had “a good innings”.
When it is your life partner, a whole part of your life, which you had always assumed would be there, always relied upon and taken for granted, disappears, leaving you like a ship without sails or rudder to traverse the seas of life.
When the person is young – your son or daughter – the loss is devastating and the chasm which opens up in your heart threatens to engulf you.
It seems that nothing anyone can say or do can ease the pain. You’re looking into a black hole with, apparently, nothing and no-one to help you to the other side of it.
But memories, both poignant and happy, can keep the person alive in your mind. In Shakespeare’s time, people believed that writing down the love you had for someone granted them, and your love for them, a kind of immortality. He ended Sonnet 18 by writing,
So long as men can breathe, or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.
A “Your Story Biography” offers you the opportunity to encapsulate your loved one, in a beautiful, tangible form, for now and future generations. We only ever know one side of our loved ones but a “Your Story Biography” gathers memories from their friends as well as yourself and this is particularly valuable in the tragic instances of schoolchildren, soldiers and accident victims, whose lives are suddenly snatched away.
How often have you asked your child, “How was school today?” Only to be told, “Fine”: or asked your mother how her day turned out: or your spouse how his/her day has been? A youngster going off on some adventure will say, “Don’t worry about me. I’ll be fine”.
To have that precious person’s friends reveal the pranks they got up to together, the laughs they enjoyed, the songs that were important to them - how much they loved you – will help the healing process.
Nothing can bring back your loved one but a “Your Story Biography” will always be there at hand to open them up to you any time you want.
“Your Story Biographies” are sensitively written, carefully crafted books, beautifully bound, for you to cherish. Allow me to provide for you, the story of one of the most precious people in your life.
