Au Revoir

It doesn’t matter whether you’re the Managing Director, Chairperson or a workmate, when someone special leaves to go abroad, moves away, retires or takes another job you want to say “Au Revoir”, “Good Luck” and “We’ll Miss You” but often you want so say much, much more.

You want, first and foremost to tell them how much their friendship has meant to you, that even though you’re sure that they’ve made the right decision to go, they’ll leave a gap in your lives. And it’s very difficult. The biography will concentrate on the time spent with you or your company.  It’ll have their “track record”. Some people achieve minor miracles at work routinely. You may wish to reward a lifetime of 101%, dedication and loyalty to your company. Perhaps this valued colleague started his or her working life with your company and is retiring after a lifetime’s service. It’s not true that you can’t adequately reward such loyalty. “Your Story Biographies” capture memories and anecdotes from you all, photographs, maybe even a goodbye poem or a snatch of a song or a company jingle which means so much to you all.

A “Your Story Biography” is not just for the moment. It’s a treasure which your friend and colleague will cherish always and will become an heirloom to be passed on to future generations.

So don’t all stand around, embarrassed, lost for words and feeling that the parting gift you’re about to present is a bit inadequate, but desperate to say “goodbye, good luck, we’ll miss you”.
